Is it OK to purchase Microsoft software on Ebay? I just want a basic Office 2003 disk, but most of them are "used" so is it alright to install them again?

Thanks

If the user has a single licence for it and has not removed it from the previous machine, this then is classed as piracy,
However there are free alternatives if you just want a standard office package

such as open office which can be found her http://www.openoffice.org/

Assuming you already have a licence, then yes, it's ok to purchase the disc from anywhere and install it again.

Well no I don't already hold a licence, the sellers say that the disk comes with the licence. So is this OK? There seem to be a lot of these disks for sale on Ebay.

Unless it has a spare license on it then it would actually be piracy.Alot of home edition office 2003 had 3 licenses if all 3 are used then keep away from it but if its got one spare on it then it should be fine.

As its 2003 it may well be genuine clearance stock or a copy removed from a PC and sold .
Used versions are likely to have been replaced on users PC by a later version .

look at (a) the sellers ratings (b) the length of time he has been trading (c) read the sales feedback comments.

I'd be sceptical if he had 10 trades, traded for 2 months and had a glowing feedback. Would prefer 1000's of sales over many years with a 98% feedback, and he sold computer gear (rather than odds & sods)
