Well done on getting down to sorting out your finances.
Haven't seen anyone advising you to take lunch to work so I'll do that! Don't know how much you spend per day but I bet if you add it all up it would be a sizeable sum each month. How about the spending diary? Have you started noting down where it all goes? Thanks for the advice Verbatim.
My spending diary starts today, I got paid today too so I figured it would be a good starting point.
I'm nipping down to ASDA later on today or tomorrow to pick up pasta and veg to take into work to reheat.
I spent £3.00 on a Boots Meal today so that is one thing that has to stop...even if I got a Meal Deal only oevery other day it would still be in the region of about £15/month.
Just got my statements in from the bank so will be faxing them tomorrow to Virgin.

My spending diary isn't going so well. Spending on lunch etc and chocolate is whatI am finding most difficult.
Also spent more than I should have on drinks and food at the weekend, finding it so difficult to say no!!!!
Took advantage of a free haircut tonight!!! Saved me my usual £9 for a cut!A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining and wants it back the minute it begins to rain.0 -

have you looked at your credit rating? Being refused is usually a sign you are overdebted for your income - if you believe your CR is OK?skintscotsman wrote:mmmm, not good news i was refused a BT to the virgin card.

Id leave off applying for others , it can do more harm than good, at least for a short while
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

my credit files seem okay, although my address can never be found on files so it might be that.

hi again. haven't posted for a while in my thread but i suppose that is forgiveable given it has been xmas et al.
I managed to get through the Xmas period without adding more to my credit cards AND without extending my overdraft, which given my current situation I am quite pleased about. I still managed to get eveyone what seems to be decent presents although our family have never been ones to spoil each other really (thankfully!)
I had a great rest over the festive period as I had over 2 weeks off owrk - at times it was difficult not to go out and spend loads of money but I managed two clubbing nights out and a Hogmanay party on quite a decent budget. Helped, of course, by the excellent booze offers on at Asda
Sold a couple of items on eBay over the holidays too which brought in over £200, unfortunately I will need to spend at least £130 getting my catalytic converter replaced on my car. Can't complain really, cars are meant to burn holes in your pockets!
Also, if I hadn't sold the items I may have had to extend overdraft to do this.
Oh, one last thing - I used my RBOS Credit Card to pay £60 to tax my car for 6 months - but there is a method to my madness. I want to decrease my overdraft which is a higher interest rate than my RBOS CC. If I had used £60 of my overdraft it would effectively cost me more than with the CC. That make sense?A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining and wants it back the minute it begins to rain.0 -
 !!!!!!, i've just realised that the interest rate on my RBOS CC is actually higher than my overdraft :mad:A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining and wants it back the minute it begins to rain.0

folks I am really struggling here.
I have about £100 to last me until the end of the month, have had to replace catalytic conveter and tyres on the car.
I am considering getting a Trust Deed (IVA equivalent for us in Scotland).
I have stopped drinking to try to save money but it doesn't seem to make much of a difference.
Could someone please give me afvice on what happens with atrust deeD?A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining and wants it back the minute it begins to rain.0
