ESURE-Insurance increase 300% for no reason

Esure have increased my car insurance by over 300% and won't tell me why. Only noticed after a few months so have lost £100's. Anyone else fallen fowl? My Advise....stay clear

    Auto-renewal?
How much would they insure you for as a new customer?

They dont need to tell you and to be honest the telephone staff are not qualified to tell you. However, we do know that esure have shifted to focusing on low risk customers and pricing out high risk. More than most have. They even hit hard with just 3 points on the licence now whereas they never used to increase until you had 6.

if you think logically you should be able to tell if you are a low risk customer or a higher risk one. With esure they are cherry picking so you dont need to be that much higher to be priced more.

    Check the cancellation fees.
You might get a better quote elsewhere but if you are thiking of changing now then check the fees first.
Also be aware you will have lost the last few months no claims.

I was waiting for someone to pick up on that :-)

Unfortunately you need to do more than that.
You need to "diarise" it and check up in advance.
This is because an awful lot of renewal notices appear to get "lost in the post".
I would guess the OP didn't notice because the monthly increase wasn't that large.

    "by over 300%"

    Seems large enough to me.

The op needs to get a quote as a new customer. If it's still 300% dearer, fair enough.
If it's comparable to last years, the "treating the customer fairly" policy could well be questioned, particuarly as the insurer can't provide any reason for the rise.
This could well be a classic example of an auto renew just taking the customer for a ride.

eSure seem to be trying to price a lot of people out of their books... Just look around, they're not the only fish in the sea :)

If they are, that's ok. Just so long as the online quote is comparable to the renewal, and it's fair to the existing customer.
