No water going to washing machine

Yesterday I pulled the washing machine forward to lay new floor.
Pipes were still connected, the only thing I did do was turn up the "blue plastic thing" on the cold water supply just incase the pipe slipped off and we get flooded.

Today, no water going into washing machine.
Its trying to pull water in and none going in.

Have tried flippping that "blue plastic thing" up and down.
Makes no difference to the water supply.

Cold water coming out of sink tap - the washing machine tap stems from the pipe that supplys water to sink tap.

I'm now thinking the maybe I have not turned the "blue platic thing" in the correct position.....I can't actually remember what that was....it only seems to go down or 90 degree upwards.

Any ideas whats up? Could it be an airlock?

Its a bosch washing machine nearly 4 years old.

You have probably broken the plastic handle on the tap.

If you can get close enough to have a good look at it, see if the metal part moves when you tun it.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
  • The plastic taps normally point along the pipe in the on position and across the pipe for off.
  • I have just had a look, the plastic thing is coming off a metal curve which is moulded to the metal rim thing around the pipe, but the curve is fixed, so can not move.
In the middle of the plastic thing, there is something that looks like a screw. Can't tell if this turns when I flip the blue thing up or down.

Its pointing along the pipe - so is correctly in the "on" position.
  • Have you checked the hose isn't folded or trapped

    try,,
removing the plastic bit and use a pair of pliers to move/operate the valve.
they fairly often break. esp the cheap chinese ones.
    Get some gorm.

    Yep, all checked.

Over the winter we had burst pipes on a few occasions and so we ended up turning the mains water supply off and turning back on when it all fixed.

We ended up with no cold water/trickle going into bathroom upstairs. Turned out it was an airlock.

Someone from dynorod came out and sorted it out by running the cold water tap in bath (very little water coming out..barely trickle) and then blocking it with his thumb...he said that water will be forced to go back up pipe and get at the airlock. It worked.

Could it be similar problem with the machine pipe?
  • Other option. Turn water off at mains disconnect hose at washing machine in let. Place hose in bucket/bowl have someone standing by mains turn water back on very slowly.

Had thought of doing that but I'm a bit reluctant to do it as I might not be able to correctly fit the hose back on the machine ... worried that it might come loose with how fast/hard the machine vibrates and we have yet another flood.

Problem turned out to be a broken valve! Well done ORMUS.
