Your winter bill...

My Scottish Power bill for 80 days between Nov and Feb was £130 for gas and £90 for electricity.
This is for a 3 bedroom modern detached house with 2 of us at home for all day 7 days a week (we both work from home). We have the thermostat set at 14 degrees during the day and 10 degrees at night. We use electric heaters for five minutes or so every couple of hours to heat up the room that we are in during the day.0 -
About £85 a month for both Nov, Dec and Jan (gas and elec). Old 3 bed terrace, with open plan downstairs. DH home all day most days. This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
Fingers crossed x0 -
We live in a 3 bed terraced house (2 adults and 2 children so out most of the day) - our bills were £99 for electric and £95 for gas with EDF from Oct - Jan. We only use gas for the combi boiler. During the night the heating was kept on but turned down to 16 deg. I was very happy at these bills especially as my electric bill usually costs around £140, but the meter was replaced in November and the very nice fitter 'lost' a few units off the old meter
My neighbour, who is with British Gas, used the same amount of gas units as I did and paid £300 for her bill!!0 -
Have been forgetting to take regular readings and to be honest with it being so cold I was scared to update our account but it turns out that September to March, ie the cold half of the year, we've spent £229.93 so I'm pretty happy with that. Approx £110 on gas plus £130 on electricity for six months.
It's a 2-bed mid-terrace and I am home 4 days a week although we try to keep the heating off during daytime and just have it on in the morning before getting up and in the evening when the temperature falls. Usually stick to 17 or 18 degrees as we are warm enough at that temperature. When it was VERY cold we kept it on 15 degrees overnight which I considered quite extravagant0 -
If you both work from home can you not off set some of the cost against your tax bill?0

Electricity: bills are quite screwed up with loads of estimated reads but back on top of it now, account is £186 in credit, been paying £89 a month DD and they now want £92 starting tmrw, not going to split hairs over £3.CC limits £26000
Long term CC debt £0

Almost debt free feeling, priceless.
Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.0 -
