You can possibly add it as a temporary additional car, but (as you'll discover if you did a search/read your policy docs/checked with your insurers) your DOC extension (if you have it) won't cover cars you own.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

There is also the introduction of 'continuious insurance' which means you'll get a fine (£100 fixed penalty) from the DLVA if there is no insurance on one of the cars.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

I'm going through this at the moment as I bought a new car yesterday.
It won't be ready to be collected until Wednesday and the garage wants a copy of my insurance so they can tax it for me, so I called my insurers yesterday. (AA insurance).
They said this is very common, and what they did was to take the details for the new car and amend my policy to show that I am covered on it from tomorrow morning, and will also be covered on my old car until next Friday.
This will allow me to get it taxed, and also ensure I'm covered when I take the old heap to the garage to swop over to the new one.
I'm sure that this isn't just an AA thing, and I wouldn't be surprised if most insurers have something similar in place.0 -
The garage I'm buying my car from insisted it was insured too and I provided a certificate however it's insured from 02/03 and no earlier....0
