Car insurance for 24 year olds

Just wondering if anyone knew if you are 24 years old and buying car insurance and turning 25 years old halfway through the year, will that affect your excess? Or will I still have to pay my 24 year old compulsory excess? I don't think my premium will actually go down but just wondering if the excess will? Has anyone cancelled their policy half-way before and switched? The only 6 month insurance I found was e-car which didn't accept under 25s anyway!

Switching insurance mid term wont really pay for itself. You wont be earning a full years no claims.
Having an extra year claim free would be better than having a driver thats 25 and not 24.5 years old.

The policy will usually state £100 excess or £250 if the driver is under 25. Check the policy before buying.

My compulsory excess for under 25s is 250 and 500 for theft, fire, etc but voluntary excess puts another 250 on. I guess I'll have to check if the compulsory excess will still apply when I turn 25. Just have to hope I don't need to make any claims!
