try uninstalling IE7 from Add/Remove programs , IE6 will re-appear, see if that sorts it, then try a fresh updateEx forum ambassador

thats me beat, you've maybe deleted something thats important to the running of windows (or Norton has)....
if possible I would remove nortons as well , then re-install laterEx forum ambassador
