A good tip is to AVOID what is posted on boy racer forums. All they're interested in is who will give them a printout with the biggest number on regardless of how well the dyno is calibrated.
I know one old timer who did performance tuning near me who used to alter the dial for the boy racers because he was sick to death of them banging on "thats not right, it should do 120BHP" If you did motorsport though, you got a completely different result.
There are many rolling roads out there that artificially increase their figures, fortunately these are becoming rarer.
For the record:
I race my car on racing tracks, I don't participate in chavtastic burnouts at Maccy D's or racing on the public highway. It's just a hobby that beats watching Eastenders.0 -
TBH I had my car mapped on the road. You don't need to break the speed limit, All it has to do is load the engine up and let go. Rolling Roads will vary a fair bit from what I understand so power readouts are not good for comparision unless the other car was tested on the same RR.
What did you expect to see? I don't think you could ask for too much. an N/A car is never going to make big gains because that's the nature of the beast.
My (turbo) car gained 50bhp but that included backbox, centre pipe, decat (still passed emissions), uprated intercooler and air filter. A lot of what has happened to yours looks like sensible mods for prolongued high speed running which should improve reliability but not really add a lot on the performance front.
Does sound like a very bad map initially though.

I agree what you say about the RR needing to be the same to get an accurate idea of relative power figures, as they are all different. I have used Ktec and Surrey Rolling Road, which has a very good reputation and I will shortly be at Emerald with Dave Walker.
Your car sounds like it had a set staged tuning package? What boost is that running? I guess they increased boost a bit and fuelling right? Did you get to see the map and individual load site figures relative to RPM? Did they change ignition advance at all? What octane fuel was it mapped on? I assume its a petrol engine?
As for my car...sensible mods? You decide:
Currently:
2020 c.c. rebuilt high comp bottom end.
Lightenend and balanced crank
Wossner high comp 12.5:1 oversised pistons & forged Wossner conrods / ARP bolts.
Rebuilt & ported cylinder head from higher spec engine, bigger valves etc.
Catcams, fairly extreme, but still just about on hydraulic lifters.
Jenvey 45mm throttle bodies and matched intake manifold.
Supersprint exhaust manifold.
Emerald K3 ECU.
2.25" straight through exhaust.
The high comp bottom end was not a feature on the last dyno test. Cars with a similar or even inferior builds produce far more bhp than mine and all tested on the same dyno. I will have mine retested with the new engine and corrections to the last build complete very soon, it should be about 210 - 220 bhp if similar engines are anything to go by. Current corner weighting shows 900kg without driver.
Ok, with that over, can I now get some advice?0 -
            I have plenty of pictures.0

Switchable boost in the newage scooby. Moved from about 0.8 to 1.4 bar boost which gave the 50bhp push.
I did see the map yes and it was a lot smoother than the 'before' pic too. As part of the mapping process they actually lean out the fuel not put more in so bhp went up, still passed the emissions (without the cat) and mpg went up too. Proper result.
Yours is a bit different as mine was about mapping the existing power train to unlock its potential. Car manaufacturers make them all the same for a reason, because it offers a safe field of operation. Different engines, looked after better than others will produce different power outputs and live mapping allows someone who knows what they are doing to push up performance whilst keeping the engine safe.
If yours isn't making the power and it sounds like the map was awful hence the bore wash issue (also a scooby problem) then I'd wonder if the rest was done right. Did you see the old bits out of the car etc?

I know how this feels, some pillock takes their car to some numpty to get it tuned.... They feed him a load of bull and he then goes around recommending them all over the shop.
I spent £350 at a so called specialist in Ford x-flow engines, car came back with less power and a b1tch of a misfire, they're damaged 2 ingition leads, replaced a high performance ingintion coil with a standard one and caught the wiring for the temp sensor in the alternator belt (which required tearing the wiring loom apart to repair), I also found 2 screws from the twin 40 webbers which had been lost in the engine bay... God knows what else they did wrong.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
