I bought an Iomega 34968 Desktop ext HD in January to use with my laptop. I copied a lot of music and pics over, but they do still remain on my laptop. However as its still new and my first HD and just wanted to check on it. I have plugged it in and ...nothing! There is no sound from the drive and I cannot see it in My Computers. It did not come with a back up disk. I have disconnected and reconnected and can't see that it was connected wrong, but don't know why it isn't working:( Help please and thank you in advance.

I have done all the tests, reconnected, rebooted laptop and reconnected again and the powerlight isn't even coming on. Am returning it tomorrow but don't know wether i'll get a refund or have to exchange. Not sure wether to try same or different brand either. I got a good price for this with 10% off at the time too.
