Job seekers help

Hi everyone,

Just need some help with claiming job seekers income based.

Basically my girlfriend lives with me but is a FT uni student so is excluded from the claim.

It has to go through as a joint claim even though she is excluded.

They have included her student loan in our income. they have worked out that she gets £99 a week there for giving me £2 job seekers a week.

As far as I was aware her income only counts towards her half of the claim so should give me the full amount of JSA?
Also I have heard that her grants do not count towards her claim, which I worked out just her loan would equal £48 a week....

Any advice would be amazing!

Thanks,
Jack

You are a couple living together and hence the household income is used to assess an JSA claim.

All finance she gets, or loans (even if she does not apply for them) are counted, plus the student finance is calculated on full year not just term time.

The amount a couple needs to live on (dictated by the goverment) is £101 a week.
