Kit, think I told you about the friends at school and how they treated me. You learn to develop an outer wall to reflect these kinds of people. I have a mummy friend - but I made the effort to be friends with her, she is lovely, but sometimes can be a bit dramatic and we have to do things her way, but I put my foot down and say no. I am not turning my life around to suit your needs. I have my needs. She may not like it, but so far we haven't stopped being friends.

Sometimes my friends try to push me and I have learnt to just stand up and say no. The old me would have let them do what they wanted.

That's exactly what is happening. I genuinely am not used to people. I have been a hermit for about 15 years and i have moved house so much. All my other friends are great but what is happening is starting to scare me. I am not allowed to be me. Erika and Janet are not leaving me alone with her as she behaves differently when they are around and it is safer for me. She is taking part of me away ti is so draining and frightening in a way. I wish i had stayed in my shell now.

I dont know if i want to stay friends now. How did you change? And why did you want to keep that person's friendship. All the people i know are nice and i dont want to know selfish people. I dont want to be assertive but i am going to have to change the counsellor said or i will not get better. I dont like changing it means making mistakes and learning new things everyone is so ahead of me. Poop.

Just hung washing on the line. I have marking to do later. Glorious weather. I might do it outside later. What a lovely day.

I became Assertive Kit. And I loved it! In one of my old jobs, I knew nearly everyone in the whole building, I would walk around and everyone would say hello and I was genuinely liked. It was a nice feeling.

Kit, I have made lots and lots and lots of mistakes I don't stop making mistakes. But we grow from our mistakes, they make us stronger people, they teach us new things. They make us grow and develop as people.

Huni, it is nothing to be scared of. We are here to support and help you and your lovely friends, Erika and Janet.

This friend - she is probably used to getting her own way, it doesn't make her a bad person, my friend I am talking about, her mum is very dominating and a drama queen, and she has learnt her behaviour from her. She is still a lovely person - just she needs to learn I will not do things her way just because it suits her especially when I have already made plans.

I mentioned about my other friend, was meant to meet her Fri, she asked to meet Thur and then she wanted me to still see her on Fri. I didn't go to see her, didn't feel like it and had stuff to do in the house. I keep telling my friends, I don't have the husband support they do, I have to do everything in our house. Plus I have 3 part time jobs! They have salaries.

Sometimes you just have to put your foot down.

    Hi,

Got back home from BF this morning. Taking DD for haircut later.

I am trying to find new place to live in. Being very indecisive about the situation. Running out of time. Aarrrgh.

Anyway, I promised myself a cup of coffee, then little decluttering, lunch and taking DD to playground before her hair cut.

Off to eat some frogs: http://www.eatthatfrogmovie.com/

At what age did you start to be assertive? I lied to my parents for the first time ever last weekend as dad kept ringing me and i said i was staying at Steve's so he would stop ringing. (he didn't by the way). I feel bloody terrible. I dont like this growing up malarkey. It sucks.
