There has been a massive EDL demonstration in Blackbuirn today, also a massive anti EDL demonstation. Police everywhere, I was in the town centre to do some shopping, early before the demos started but even at that time it was horrid. It looked like the town had been turned into some sort of giant prison. Was very glad to leave.
So we went home and then I lugged my 25 stone of blubber off on a walk... 22 miles!!! (in the end was aiming for 26 or marathon distance, but couldnt quite get there) The pedometer reads 49,211 steps for the day - that almost doubled my previous best0 -
Just a quick post before I go to bed - what am I???
STUPID, that is what I am
Met my brother at the station as his train had got in just half an hour before mine from a few days away and we were standing outside station waiting for my Sis & BiL to pick us up, when I looked for my phone - had everything out my handbag looking for it and was feeling sicker by the second - not there, not in my coat pocket either. I had been using it on the train, texting and listening to radio through earpiece. I text my Sis that we were nearing Newcastle, took off the earphones, and put it ...... either by/in my bag or on the table, then I disconnected my laptop, wound up the cable, closed up laptop and fitted it into my bag I have a very big handbag bought especially to carry my laptop when travelling though it is still a bit of a tight squeeze to get it in there. Stood up, got my coat off the luggage rack, dragged my holdall from the window seat I was on aisle seat and picked up my handbag, put it on my shoulder and went to get my trolley-case and waited neart doorway.
Soooooo - either I left it on the table, or on the seat or it fell on the floor. Had it on silent too, for on the train, so no use ringing it to find it or alert anyone
Dropped my Sis and BiL at their house and came straight up to Mam's as I borrow their car when I am up there - emptied everything out of my beg and it still wasn't thereWent through phone books trying to find number for east Coast Rail, Network Rail, or Waverley Station which is where the train was going. Was getting nowhere, so got my laptop out, topped up my pay-as-you-go dongle, and got online. Main lost property I was put through to only get the stuff after things have been held for a week. Waverely lost property was just an answering machine as only open for calls Monday to Friday, daytime. It took me ages to eventually get through to talk to someone at Waverely Station, the reception desk, who said that I could only leave a message on the lost property line and they would ring me back when open if it is handed in. He did confirm that staff do go through the train clearing up and looking for anything lying around and it would then be taken to lost property
My best hope is that I had been sitting with 2 other ladies on a 4-table for most of the journey and, when I got off at Newcastle as did one of these ladies, the other lady was sgtill on the train and was going to Edinburgh. Hopefully, she saw my phone and handed it in to the staff, otherwise, I just hope that the staff found it
Kit, I agree with you that there is more chance of it being found with it being in First Class ..... and that is not snoberry
Meanwhile, after an hour of telephoning left right and centre, me and my brother went down to see Mam, who has not been tooo good the last fee days. She has not been her best, getting confused and talking rubbish. When we got there, she was lying almost flat with her head right back and her mouth wide open, staring at the ceiling. I raised the bed and she was very confused. she didn't know it was me and my brother - she was telling me, after a while, about my brother phoning and her then ringing my sister. Her dinner came and she was OK when eating that, and her pudding, but was getting more and more fidgety and anxious. She seemed to be thinking she had to get out of the bed, probably to use the toilet, but she is quite unable to do so, as she hasn't the strength to lift her legs, never mind stand
We stayed there from 4.45 pm to 7.10 pm and she was still anxious when we left, but getting tired, so hopefully, would have gone to sleep soon
We called for some shopping on the way home, as, with my brother being away, there was nothing in for tea or tomorrow's dinner, but I said I wasn't hungry and would just have my cereal supper, so my brother just got a ready meal curry. I just sat watching tv when we got back as didn't have the energy or motivation for anything else. I have just come upstairs, unpacked my bags and connected to internet again to post this. And now I am going to sleep as I am knackered - tired from travelling, annoyed with myself for leaving my phone on the train, and feeling right down in the dumps with that, and with the way Mam is
Yes Kit, please ring me at Mam's around 12 noon - look forward to hearing from you - I will get online again tomorrow. Can't even text Mr 3dogs tomorrow when he is doing his car boot - hope he has nice weather and has more luck than I have had today
So, night night everyone - sleep wellMr 3Dogs 3-7-12

Jolly well done, gosh Puddings I really admire your devotion to exercise. But I am a bit worried, isn't that too much? Did your doctor tell you to pace yourself? I would ache if i did such a lot. In fact i know for a fact my legs would fall off. Or i would walk off and leave them behind. :eek:Aiming for a minimal spend 20220 -

Oooh poor Susan, You must be so tired. Do not be down ok? Fingers crossed someone has handed it in. In case they haven't maybe people on our thread can find a nice pay as you go phone that isn't too expensive. Can everyone look? Ebay could be a good idea too. Can Alan get one in an auction maybe?
I am so sorry about your mam. You must draw comfort from the fact that you are there for her and she is not going to be herself because of her advanced condition which in a way may be a blessing although it is so distressing. Hopefully she is medicated so the pain isn't too great but it sounds awful. Remember she has had a long and happy life and is with all of her loved ones that can be there that counts for a lot. My poor darling I wish i could give you a big hug. You know we all love you lots. You were exhausted from the sorting out you were doing before you left Alan and the doggies, travellling, the phone disappeared and then to see your mum in that state must feel like the final straw.
Ps i am texting your old phone and asking them to call either you at home (your brothers) or alan or me as i am in all day. They will get through to one of us and i will ask if they can post it to you. Remember when i left £500 on the train and my credit cards? Well a complete stranger found it and met me, returned them to me me and bought me a meal, had a barbeque for me etc so there are good people out there and you deserve all the luck in the world as you are a wonderful person. I will text first thing at 8am. Love you lots.
It probably isn't a big comfort but remember we are all praying and thinking of you and we are all going to see you very soon. Love you lots petal.
Big hug,

Oh thats so annoying isnt it 3dogs. Fingers crossed its been handed in but you know what some people are like. I hope it wasn't expensive and filled with lots of photos and personal things.
God kit you were lucky with that person handing your money in!!!!
I'm never having that wagamammas again, my bowels havn't been right since! Still don't want to eat anything grrrrrrrrrrr. Pub last night was awesome! We were in one of the oldest pubs in the country, its small with loads of beams and in this little cove a band starting playing with a violin, drum, bango, guitar ect. Really atmospheric!
Have a good sunday everyone, its a lovely mild day again0 -
Kit, what were you doing awake at that time!
I am just watching re-runs of "The Good Life", that was a great program! That was frugal living!
Tell us more about this person bringing your money and credit cards back - why did the buy you dinner and have a barbecue?0
