3 PPI Claims with GE Money

Options
Hi,

Can anyone give me some advice? I'm new on here and I hope that I'm not covering old ground.

I have just received a response from GE Money regarding 3 complaints I sent to them.

1) A GE Money loan taken out through Crystal Windows & Doors. There response is that as my complaint is for mis-selling and because it wasn't sold by them directly then I must take up my complaint with Crystal and that they have forward a copy of my complaint to them.

As Crystal are unlikely to be regulated by the FSA. Is that right, do I make the complaint through Crystal?

2) A GE Money loan taken out through Moben Kitchens. There response is the same as above, except I must take up my complaint with Moben Kitchens.

There response is the same as above and as Moben are unlikely to be regulated by the FSA. Is that right?

3) A GE Money loan taken out through EasyLoans, who trades as Sterling Direct Finance Limited, who are a part of London Scottish Bank plc.

There response for this one is that because my complaint is about advice given & because they didn't sell me the PPI and because they weren't present at the sale, I should contact Sterling Direct Loans as they are clearly in a much better position to deal with my complaint fully and fairly.

Is that correct? I made my complaint to GE Money initially because infact all 3 loans were originally loans with First National who are now GE Money and all three loans are now been fully settled with GE Money.

They have stated in all 3 letters that this is their Final Response letter!!!

Does anyone know what I should do next?

Many thanks

MG

    Hi and welcome

    That is correct.

Whoever sold the account is the ones responsible, even if the documentation is that of the lenders, you pursue the ones who set up the account from the start.

You could contact the FOS if you want to who will be able to advise more, but otherwise continue to make your reclaims with the ones they have stated above, and see what they come back with good luck.

    FOS details if required.

GE only funded it, they did not sell it. You need to complain to the companies that you bought the PPI from.
You cannot claim that GE mis-sold it when they were not responsible for the sale.
  • Hi Dizzy Di & Roonaldo,

Many thanks indeed for your kind advice. I will continue my claim with each of the companies as suggested and I'll let you know how I get on.

    Thanks again,

Hi again Di, I have spoken to both Moben & Crystal and I will be forwarding my claims directly to them. They both seemed very obliging!

However, I'm drawing blanks with Stirling and fear that they no longer exist. However, I note on here and with the FSCS that London Scottish have been declared in default since 30.11.08. If I'm unable to make contact with Stirling, do you know whether it would be possible to make a claim for compensation with through the FSCS?

I'm sorry if what I'm asking is a daft question.

    Hi MG

Your correct that London Scottish are in default.
When did you take out the loan (year)?

It they were governed by the FSA when you taken the loan out with them, then yes you can go the FSCS direction.;)

I would contact the FOS about Stirling to make sure, in case they come under another, they will direct you on this one.

  • Thanks Di, I took the loan out Nov 2002 and paid it off Jul 2005.

I'll do as you've suggested and I will contact the FOS in the first instance.

    Thanks again,
