Looking for boiler cover

Can anyone give me an alternative homecover scheme to British Gas for my boiler as it has increased a good £40 py. Apparently it is due to the amount of call outs although the reason for taking it out in the first place is no call out charge. Really it works like a kind of insurance.
Is there anyone else or do independents have schemes that you can pay for a cover for your boiler, not as expensive though.
The boiler does tend to break down when (guess what!) it is extremely cold! The boiler was originally installed in Jan 2006 and is an Evo HE C22/35 condensing combi with an Evo HE Standard Flue Kit but personally I think the builder was a cowboy who pieced it together. Nearly all of the main parts have now been replaced (of the boiler not the builder unfortunately). This year it hasn't actually gone wrong. But the year before it was 3 or 4 times.
Can anyone advise of a homcare cover type of offer. We live in the North East area, if this makes any difference.
Please excuse my ignorance, (probably wouldn't have ended up with the boiler or the builder if had had more knowledge about such things have to admit)

Your boiler is a rebadged Ideal Isar...not their finest hour. Try Ideal for a service plan... and start saving now for a replacement.

If you have your gas with BG cancel the homecare and get EnergyExtra 4000

I seem to remember an ad on the TV that the AA were doing this for £8.99 a monthmake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
Your boiler cover will increase anually in direct proportion to the number of call-outs as these contracts are only yearly i.e they are renewed every year - so the operator takes the veiw that if your boiler keeps breaking down then your premiun will increase
There are much cheaper boiler covers out there but beware as the service they give varies considerably.
I went from BG to ScottishPower last year and regreted my decision as their service was appalling at the very time I needed them
Customer service non-existant , poor repairs by their "contracted"gas fitters meaning numerous return visits and long waits for parts from their "central parts warehouse"
Have come to conclusion that you get what you pay for so will be looking for reliable "local" boiler cover agent this year0
