Motorbike Insurance cancelled by underwriters

Hi,
I've recently moved into a new build flat, and I phoned up my motorbike Insurers (Devitt) to inform them of my address change. Devitt couldn't find the new build address on their system, and said that it would have to be referred to the underwriters (Equity Red Star).
I got a phonecall back after a few days explaining that my address didn't show up on Equity Red Star's database also (even though the address can be seen on the Royal Mail address/post code checker) and that my insurance is being cancelled.
Devitt took delight in telling me that they've negotiated a waiver of the cancellation fee (?!), but that I have 7 days from here on to get alternative insurance sorted, and that I'll need to return the insurance document.
What are my rights here? Is this quite normal? Will this adversely affect me in future for other insurance applications? No claims bonus or other ways??
Please give any advice you have.
Sam.

Have been sent a letter explaining that my cover will cease:
"It has come to our attention via the underwriters of this policy that we are unable to provide you with cover due to an unacceptable mid-term adjustment"
This makes it sound like I've done something that is unacceptable to them, whereas the unacceptable part is the underwriters not having an up to date UK address database and penalising me for it.
Will this come back on me on future insurance applications?0 -
Update:
Struggled to find anyone online who would recognise my new build address. However Carole Nash allowed me to input my address manually online and gave me a quote.
I followed this up with a phonecall to Carole Nash to confirm and they were very accomodating. They checked with their inhouse underwriters who ok'd things, however the strange thing is my policy is underwritten by Equity Red Star - the same people as with Devitt.
Not sure how Carole Nash can insure me at this address over Devitt when they're using the same underwriters but maybe I misunderstand the process.
Plus after all that my quote with Carole Nash is cheaper, and includes UK & EU breakdown cover by the AA :T0
