Just had my policy documents through the post, arranged it all over the phone as a renewal BIG MISTAKE
Should have arranged it all online at least there I can see everything I have agreed to, documents turn up and I am checking though them and notice odd little things in the policy like no pillions allowed which I never agreed to as I take the wife out with me
Then I see I have apparently signed up to personal accident cover which I have this already as a private policy so I would never have it with my bike insurance. The guy on the phone who did the renewal kept insisting I needed it as its "Free for the 1st 3 months then you can cancel it" I said no I didn't want it he went on I went on and eventually he gave in but there it is on my policy.
Also I had a better quote elsewhere and to beat it they offered me £30 cashback after I take out the policy, the documents have the booklet regarding the cashback but no voucher so I phone up the companies call centre and there is no record of me being offered this £30 anywhere on there system or of me denying that I want the Personal Accident Cover (thankfully the Personal Accident is free to cancel). Of course I am not happy with any of this and say I want to cancel my policy before it goes into action (and I only took it out 7 days ago) which will be mid-march and I am told it will cost me £50...... £50 to cancel something that doesn't start til mid-march and isn't what I asked for, as you can understand I complained and get told as its a weekend I will have to wait til monday til a manager can review my complaint and that will take 3 days so thursday (leaving me 2 days to cancel before the £50 fine become 70% of the total insurance amount), although I bet i still have to phone them again rather than risk running out of time.
What happened to customer service? Apparently I must be lying and the guy who, I am betting is on commission, is right...... So sick of this sort of thing every year checking and rechecking every detail because if something is wrong you have to pay to put it right. So now I am stuck waiting til thursday although I will be cancelling anyway as I refuse to do business with a company who act like this, especially as even if I cancel and pay the £50 fine I will still save £10 going elsewhere.
And all this stress and fuss is thanks to those wonderful people at SWINTON
