A 'unit' is 1 kWh (kilowatt-hour). That is, the amount of energy used by a 1 kW (kilowatt) appliance in an hour.
So a 100 watt light bulb would use a unit in 10 hours and a 3kW heater would use a unit in 20 mins
The wattage of most appliances is in the instruction manual or on the appliance itself.0 -
