Recently come off ESA onto JSA needing advice

I'm coming off the ESA as from the 25/02 & have made a new claim for JSA as my doctors were reluctant before to help & the thought of asking for a new certificate filled me with dread, I also have a feeling they would refuse it.

My new problem I need advice on is my JSA claim won't start till the 09/03 & I have bills to pay next week, the first lady was helpful but said she doubts I will get the missing week backdated(the 12/02 till 21/02 when I made my new claim online). I have been advised to make a application for a crisis loan or a budgeting loan to help then pay it back on the 09/03 but when I phoned the reply was my needs aren't considered urgent & a budgeting loan is required but when I phoned about this I was told that a crisis loan is needed.

just to add the money I need is to pay for Febs rent to my parents, a £50 bank charge as the last nightmare with esa put me overdrawn & £10 for a catalogue which is now overdue, it totals 100£ altogether but am I being dumb in thinking it is urgent for myself?

Seevral forums have suggested I make an appointment to see my jobcenter manager, explain the issue & they might offer some sensible
ideas, any help??

  • do you mean you dont sign on until 9/3 rather than your new claim doesnt start til 9/3? - your new claim would start from the 26th the day after your ESA finished so you will be claiming from 26/2-9/3 when you sign on and you'll be paid upto 25th for ESA as you say you are stopping your ESA from that date or are you stopping it from the 12th, as unsure with your post, there is nothing the jobcentre manager can do - your payday and signing on day is dictated by your national insurance number and they would refer you to crisis loans which is a different department altogether, then the decision would be for them to make, you can ask for a reconsideration and they will reconsider. did you tell them that you are getting bank charges/late payment charges etc and it is putting you further into debt?

A medical note is not actually required as I understand it.
If you believe you can satisfy the DWP with other evidence, for example, or get enough points at the ATOS interview.
