Chrome tabs

I've just started to try out Chrome and it's fine but I do have problems with the visibility of the tabs at the top. They are small, as is the font, and the colour makes them nearly disappear into the top of the screen. I've looked through all the options but can't find a way of making them or the fonts on them bigger or bolder. Can anyone advise me please?

Thanks

DS

  • I'm happy to be proved wrong, but I don't think you can change it unfortunately.
Perhaps a different coloured theme would help. The original blue one might be better?? https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/oppbdedflbioggjkeneigjcmpomohajo?hl=en-US

Thanks, Oh dear that's a shame. I'm using the original blue theme but it's dark blue on light blue which isn't helpful. I'm getting used to everything else but this is beginning to really annoy me, as is the squinting to read it which isn't helping my wrinkles. I may have to go back to Firefox or maybe do without tabs at all. Oh dear.

    Thanks again

I'm out of ideas now though.
I have to agree that when it comes to customising, Firefox wins easily.

I'd say, persevere, such a small price to pay for a swifter surf.

Thank you, yes you're right, it is massively faster, and the black on white is a bit easier to read too, though how anyone with visual difficulties manages I don't know.

The other thing about tabs is I can't see how to change how to open them - or not. I've just looked at the top of the page and there are loads open, some of which look like replies to a thread on here that I'm in the middle of writing. Luckily before sending it yet again, I realised that when I click 'submit reply' yet another tab opens, then if I edit my message, or preview it, yet another tab opens so I have then to check back on the actual board to see if I've sent it. I would rather just click 'submit reply' and for the tab to close or to go straight to the thread Iwas responding to rather than leave tabs open with my message, the risk is that I would send it twice, maybe I already have.

I've looked in settings and see no way of doing this. Is there any sort of add-on I can get to control all these millions of tabs?

Thanks - sorry, I will persevere, I promise, but it's hard going when it doesn't work in the same way as I do!!

Edited to say, writing this message will have opened 6 tabs in all, all of which will remain open!!

I'm puzzled. I've very deliberately gone through every possible option replying to you, and done it all in one tab.
I have no idea how you have opened 6.
The only thing that usually opens a new tab is clicking a link, which I find useful. It means I can check, for instance, the white theme I linked for you without losing the page I was reading first.
I've just checked and Firefox behaves the same way.
Perhaps you just need to get used to the tabs being on top. I remember it did seem odd to me at first.

EDIT When I clicked submit reply it didn't open a new tab. Strange!
  • I thought it was strange too, as Chrome is all about improvement, supposedly. So do you still just have one tab with the thread on it? I have one open which is my response, then another when I've done a preview of my response, then another when I've edited, then a new one yet again at the thread, and if I've previewed and edited again more tabs have opened for each action.

This really is odd then, what on earth have I done to get all of these? I might uninstall then reinstall and see if it's any different.

    Many thanks for your help.

Yep, just 1 tab. I've done all the things you have, still only 1 tab.

    Very odd!!
