House Insurance With Lodgers £453!!!

Aviva want £453 for the renewal of my home & contents insurance, on a £300k property, with no claims in at least 5 years. Time to shop around!

Unfortunately, I cannot use the comparison websites as they don't offer quotes for people renting out rooms to students.

How much do other people pay for insurance with companies that permit lodgers? Which Insurance companies?

Well what price are you expecting? My folks pay about £280 for a house with 120k rebuild and 50k contents... no lodgers or anything like that? Seems to me you just want it for next to nothing but you have a high rebuild figure, no doubt quite high contents and the added risk of a student in your property?

£453 for buildings and contents including coverage for student lodgers seems pretty good actually. Especially if it hasnt got any theft endorsements that usually come with lodgers.

I've NEVER claimed on a home insurance policy, yet the price of the policy has gone up by 16% in 2 years. It has to be time to shop around. However, that's a little bit difficult when the price comparison websites don't cover people who have lodgers.

That's why I'd like to hear from other people who share their house with lodgers.

How many lodgers ? Many will accept one employed or one mature student lodger.

Have you tried Endsleigh, NFU Mutual, local broker ( not Swintons)

The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.

We use Endsleigh. £6.50 per month. £45k of cover AD and PP. Added a lodger on last week. No change to premium.
