The context was quite clearly about disabled toilets.

Access facilities have not been mentioned.
But since access facilities have now been mentioned...

No all stations do not have to have lifts, ramps etc for the disabled (yet).

For example Holton Heath has none of these...

My post (#4) quite clearly said; 'All stations now MUST have disabled facilities'. In your post (#6) you stated; 'Stations do not need to provide facilities for ANY passengers', which seemed to suggest you meant ANY facilities. I was merley pointing out that this is in fact incorrect. Perhaps we miss-understood each other.

Lets have a look at what you actually said.

All stations now MUST have disabled facilities which by default usually include baby changing.

Since when have wheelchair ramps and lifts meant that a station would have ANY form of toilets, disabled or otherwise?

You are just backtracking in my opinion, so lets leave it at that.

Besides which, you are wrong, as the post above this one states.
  • I was travelling from Swindon to Cardiff Central. There was definitely no baby changing or disabled toilet on the platform at Cardiff. There may have been in the main part of the station, but as our train was due soon we did not have time to go and investigate other parts of the station.
Spoke to a lovely lady at FGW yesterday who asdvised me to put my comments in writing, as they do look at all suggestions.
    Thanks for all your comments.

There is a pull down baby changing table in the FGW disabled toilets on HSTs and has been since they were put in.
Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.
If you don't like my opinion feel free to respond with your own.

Good to see that all Network Rail operated stations do have baby changing facilities. However, slight peturbation at the description of Kings Cross facilities:
Men's toilets and showers are on platform 8. Ladies' toilets and baby changing facilities are on the main concourse. The ladies' showers are now closed.
If we ever go to Kings Cross, I can't have a shower ;) and Marley can't change the baby

Does anyone know is it not British Rail policy to provide any facilities?

AFAIK, it is not the policy of the railway companies to provide trains that run to any discernible timetable, let alone extras such as unvandalised carriages, tickets that cost less than a week's net wages if you want to book less than 4 years before the date of travel or provide anything that I would class under general terms of 'customer service' unless taken on by an unusually helpful staff member who has been hired by accident.

I doubt that the people that run the railways in the UK are aware that people have babies as I couldn't imagine anyone wanting to sleep with them!

  • Er ... British Rail hasn't existed for a good number of years. :rotfl:

Your query/complaint is with First Great Western regarding the journey (the Train Operating Company - TOC); and with the owners of the station (most likely a TOC as Network Rail only own a very small number of stations).
    .

network rail own every single station in the country apart from heritage lines and such
And kings cross is undergoing MASSIVE redevelopment which has led to them having to implement these changes.

You really know nothing about the company you work for do you?

I would really suggest you pipe down because Im ready to tear apart everything you have posted here because your so wrong on everything you say
    one of the famous 5:kiss:
  • As above NR own all the infrastructure including stations,I suspect what the poster meant was NR operate a few stations instead of the TOC?

Thank you. I didn't realise somebody was going to get so pedantic about the difference between "own" and "operate". ;)Everybody note the winking smiley, generally means something is said facetiously.
