Is this excellent condition?

Hi, Bought a PSP for a present and chose on that was listed as "IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION - IT HAS ONLY BEEN USED A HANDFUL OF TIMES"
I was a little concerned as you never know until things arrive... (I always downgrade my conditions to be safe)
However, it looks fairly used to me. There is an annoying scuff / scratch in the middle of the screen that you can see when it is on (only in certain colours though) which is probably more annoying than the scratches on the body. Could have taken other pics of marks too.
What should I do? The annoying thing is that it would cost £7 to return and you have to try and reclaim original postage etc too.
Or would some people list this as excellent condition?

Its always hard to show the screen in pics. Lots of surface scratches (like you would get if used a fair amount) but the big white scuff near the middle / right is annoying.

  • I would no way call this excellent condition!!!!! I would class excellent as having no scratches and pretty much being as new. Like you, I tend to downgrade my ratings slightly to play on the safe side.

Not sure where you stand but you could ask Ebay for advice, or contact the seller to say you don't agree that the item as described and see what they will do. Were these pictures included in the ebay listing? Because if they were then it may be harder to claim, even though it did say excellent condition because its clear from the pics what the condition is. But if these pics were not there then I think you should try and get your money and postage back. I would contact the seller to try and resolve/contact ebay before leaving bad feedback and then if the seller won't rectify, give them bad feedback. Ebay should be able to advise what else you can do.

For me, if there is any kind of damage to what i'm selling I make sure that I clearly state it in the listing, and include extra pictures specifically showing the area to ensure that I have no queries.

I would be seriously unhappy if I received this PSP when I was expecting one in "excellent condition"!

    Good luck!

Just do a SNAD claim and return it. You will get your original P+P back, but obviously won't get your return postage. Better to be down £7 than left with a tatty PSP though.

As long as you get a refund without any stress or snarkyness from the seller, leave a neutral (imo, negative maybe a little harsh) and describe the condition it was recieved in.

Just found that 1 of the metal pins that holds the UMD has come away too (it still works though). Added another pic to show (bottom left metal bar)

  • That's not in excellent condition.
  • If you would be happy to keep it, see if the seller is willing to give you a partical refund. As if you had know of the damage you proberley wouldnt have bid as high. Some ebay sellers just have lower standards tsk tsk:wall:
    :j:j:j Wooooo Hooooo :j:j:j
  • Also if returning use special delivery,it may say a lot of aggro later

First of all, what date did you buy it, did the seller have a returns policy ie within so many days etc. Did you buy in an auction or Buy it Now. Did you pay through Paypal?

If Buy it Now, you have the same rights as under Distance Selling Rules. In other words you have the right to change your mind. You must declare your grievances to the seller asap, so they can't suggest that you've caused the problems.

In the past I have always, written to the seller first and see what their reaction is, most people are really understanding and will just ask you to send the item back and refund the cost of the item only.If you do this always send back by Special Delivery for an item like this.
If there's any hostility at all or little cooperation, then if you paid through Paypal, just raise a dispute, you have 45 days withiin which to do this. You don't have to go into great detail at the first stage but make sure you keep all your pictures as proof, it would come under Item not as Described. Also keep any correspondence between you and the seller a sproof as your having tried to settle the matter yourself.

Good Luck and no I would call this fair condition.

DSR do not cover private sellers.
Not all sellers can agree what they see as "excellent condition" this will always vary from person to person. I now always ask for closer photos like the op has shown in this thread to decide for myself. In this case I would certainly not describe it as excellent.
