Interesting twist on the subject of insurance fronting. Apparently the main driver was registered blind.

The court heard how Burtenshaw’s grandfather, Richard Burtenshaw, who is registered blind, was named as the ‘main driver’.
LOL.
Actually, the serious side of this is that fraud has been committed by multiple parties and someone has had their life wrecked. The driver, Steven Burtenshaw gets a piddly 12-month ban and a disgraceful £200 fine. Hopefully he will be made bankrupt by a claim against assets, if he has any. He should also face prosecution for fraud and hopefully be imprisoned for it. The blind grandfather should also be included as a party to the claim against assets and prosecution for fraud if found to be party to this.
The only way you stop it is make the cost of the crime greater than the penalty if caught.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). It's with Quinn as well, they will be all over the grandson and grandfather pursuing their outlay if they have to pay out on the claim.
The family have done themselves no favours by trying to cover their tracks which will in effect bring the grandfather more into the problem. If they had let the grandson take the rap (As I would not be surprised if the grandfather was not even aware the insurance was taken out in his name) then the chances are the grandfather would have been left alone by Quinn / MIB and possibly the police. They would have just gone after the grandson who probably has sweet fa assets and would go bankrupt, I assume the grandfather has some type of assets possibly including a house which they might be able to go after now.0 -
It's been a long time since the cost of crime in this country has been more than the penalty. Our courts are a joke and severely hamstrung by the ridiculous limitation of sentences inflicted on their judicial freedom by do-gooders, bean counters, and the "yuman rites" crowd.I can afford anything that I want.
