I had to do a factory reset on my laptop last weekend and ever since any games I go on (facebook especially) are all jerky and I am finiding some hard to even play at all. Is there anything I can do or is it just likely to be the games themselves?

Do a Windows Update and that might list hardware (like graphics) that could be updated to newer version. If using XP then you do a windows update and choose the 'custom' option, this shows any non essential but potentially useful updates including hardware drivers.
Otherwise list the make and model and maybe we can see what might need updating. It's quite possible the graphics need a driver update.

If Windows update and the flash update doesn't help then maybe try downloading and installing a driver listed for your machine on Acer support site
http://support.acer.com/us/en/default.aspx - you can choose your model and download the drivers if required.....note there are two versions, Aspire 5536 and 5536G

What would it come under on the list of drivers cos there isn't just graphics driver there? If practice makes perfect, and nobody is perfect....................................

Another couple of things to look at:
Your graphics acceleration may have been switched off/reduced. Try methods 1 and 2 in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/191660
On my compaq laptop there is an option in the power savings option that reduces the graphics acceleration when on battery power. It's a long shot but ensure that you have full acceleration on mains power. (I can't get at my lappy at the minute so I have to be vague)
Perhaps an Acer user can help.0 -

On the 5536 I think you want to download then install:
Choose your operating system (I'm guessing it's Vista Home Premium x32bit)
VGA Driver ATI8.632.0. 108.0 MB 10/23/2009
It's not up to date but at least is a good stating point to hopefully get a correct VGA graphics driver working.
Also on your laptop you can check for hardware that isn't correctly setup by looking at Device Manager and seeing if any items have exclamation marks <info here>
