Definately Slaters and Charles Tywriitt for the shirts. I dress my hubbie and we take the day out every so often and go to slaters either m/ch or glasgow -not sure if it is in London and spend all day.

I would spend on the suit and not worry about the shirts so much unless your particular job means you are seen in your shirt sleeves more . £150 -you will get something pretty decent in Slaters plus you can get not bad shirts in there for about £30. If you are sending your shirts out for cleaning you might bebetter to get cheaper shirts but change them more often to keep the crisp and fresh as I think this is what makes a difference.

Ties are definately out I agree but decent shirts should have enough buttons to be decent.

If you are having it tailored and wearing just shirt sleeves a lot then the jacket will last but your trousers will wear so a tailor could probably do you 2 pairs trousers fairly reasonabley.

    sorry my typing is awful!

Yes, that's what happens. Most of the times apart from when I arrive / leave.

at the same time I´d be ridiculous wearing shirts closed at the collar button (and/or with button down collars) - again, no-one seems to be wearing them like that! Hence I need shirts with a button at the right place i.e. not too high, not too low.

Again, Charles Tyrwhitt do a range of casual shirts, originally designed for "dress down Friday". And button down "Oxford style" .... but you say you don't like them

Thomas Pink expensive? Tesco 3 quid shirts are expensive. It's the ratio of price/value that mark an expense, not just the price.

Thomas Pink shirts are so nice as too be practically free.
I wonder why it is, that young men are always cautioned against bad girls. Anyone can handle a bad girl. It's the good girls men should be warned against.-David Niven
  • Have you considered a shopping trip to the US ?

The £ is so strong against the $ at the moment, outlet malls are cheap places anyway and plenty of the 'names' are doing buy 1 get 1 half price, 50% off, 40 % off etc.
With flights from £200 ish and a night in a motel for about £25, you could save yourself a packet - if you can be bothered with the hassle of flying !

  • tm lewin for shirts www.tmlewin.co.uk - 4 for £100 always on offer. Do lots of corporate offers too, so if you know anyone working in any big financial institutions etc ask them for the latest promo code. Theres one out at moment CORP0X7 (or something like that) for £22.50 a shirt. Cracking shirts. Go into a shop, get your sizesm order online if not in stock.

slaters for suits www.slaters.eu - If your spending more than £500 in slaters negotiate yourself a 5% discount... they always give a discount if asked for and you spending a bit of dosh, normally 5%.
