a friend of mine seen a local advert advertising for people to go instores and buy pay as you go phones this is how she said it works after talking to the man who advertised the job
you have to reserve the phones using your own info and pc you are allowed 2 per store per day there are two ways to buy them you use the mans money to go in the store and then he pays you £7.50 per phone you purchase they are the latest phones out or you can use your own money and he pays you £10 per phone on top of what you have paid out seems easy money to me
the man must be sending them abroad im thinking is this a scam of some kind or are they worth much more abroad as he needs to make his money if he is running people around to buy his phones
ps you have to register your details to reserve them before you go instore but i dont know what other details you give i told her to be careful as it seems to good to be true there may be a catch some where in it but i dont see what
any advice i can pass on to her
thanks

Yes, it legal to buy a phone and sell a phone.
As to the buyer intentions who knows. Maybe he's buys them and resells them on ebay for profit. Maybe, he sells them onto organised crime so the SIM/Phone get linked to the buyer. Maybe he pays you in counterfeit money. Maybe he is looking for somebody stupid enough to a meet a stranger for a dodgy deal, so he can bundle them into the back of his boot.....0 -
Maybe the SAS will come swinging through your patio doors in a few months' time because 'your' phone was used to plan the next 7/7. Or organise a peedofyle ring. Or something else extremely unsavoury.
Anyone who wants lots of phones legitimately would buy them wholesale.
I'd go running with the advert to the nearest police station.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
these are often shipped abroad, used to be possible to buy a phone here as its cheaper and sell them elsewhere, its referred to as "box breaking"

Personally wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. There must be a reason they want to use your details rather than theres and whatever they use the phones for will be traced back to you/your friend. If it sounds to good to be true it probably is.0

This link suggests BB is illegal, when it is very much legal. As long as you comply with other laws such as tax & duty (I'm sure these gangs don't of course).0 -
Please note, the ads are not mine and comments below are my opinon only and may not be true.
I bet the store you have to buy from is Argos. You prob have reserve online and collect using the reserve and collect service.
I have a friend who works at Argos who told me they have certain people who keep coming into the store to buy the phones. The store employees know them very well now so they cant go in anymore as Argos have a limit on how many you can buy. Often they ask passers by and give them the money to buy.
Id say it is legal, as what they will do is sell the phones or send them abroad for profit. If you compare prices seen at stores like Argos and carphonewarehouse to the local mobile shops/markets you have they are much higher at the local shop as they know they will sell at these prices. So they buy lower from Argos and sell for profit.
Where is this advertised?0 -
i dont know it was advertised on a job site on the internet my friend was telling me about it thats why i came on here for her to see if its legal or not i know that she mentioned carphonewarehouse i will be telling her not to do it and yes you have to reserve them then go and collect
thank you0 -
Does your name get registered when you purchase a PAYG phone? Could be sold on to the criminal fraternity or Terrorists as it is then not traceable to them but to the original purchaser.0

Not if paying cash
This seems to me much like the little shop keepers who were going into the big supermarkets and buying their stock from there because it was cheaper than going to the wholesalers in the 1990's, the time we had tins of beans for 1p. Saw many an argument between little shopkeeper and store manager as they stopped them doing it, or at least tried.
There is nothing wrong with buying and selling things, it is afterall what the big retailers do but obviously retailers put a limit on so the people wanting to buy and sell on a regular basis have to get a bit smarter.
How many here have not bought something you don't want as it is cheap and sell on? I have and if I see a good opportunity I will again.I started with nothing and I am proud to say I still have most of it left.0
