automatic credit limit increase

I've had calls from several companies offering (for a price of course £495 per card) to cancel my credit card debt on cards I took out before 2007 with a balance of more £1000 outstanding. They are claiming this is possible under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 vis a vis where the companies have automatically increased my credit limit without my permission. Sounds too good to be true. Can this be achieved? If so, surely I can achieve the same outcome myself? Has anyone been successful or is this yet another scam?

It is a scam
Do a search on the site and you'll get lots of results about people who have paid out and what has happened.0 -
Go for it and loose your money, will serve you right for not doing the right thing and paying bills YOU have racked up!0

Thanks for that. If it sounds too good to be true it usually is.0

Ignore the above, they can if your card gave you an increase without you signing.0

My grandmother has been taken for a ride with this company. She has lost out on £400 as far as she says, despite my father advising her TO NOT HAND OVER A PENNY she still went ahead.0
