Is £90 a month too much
Options
I got my first gas bill today for just over £92 this is only for one months usage. My heating is on about 6 or 7 hours a day (back boiler), I have a gas hob but it is rarely used and have had the fire on low for a couple of hours too. Is it normal for it to be so expensive. The boiler has recently been serviced, could there be a problem somewhere?

How many units (kWh) have you used? Are the meter readings actual or estimates?0

How big is your house? Back boilers are more expensive to run, and so are fires, especially decorative living flame type. Is it from a reading or is the bill an estimated one?
I'm in a 4 bedroomed house. The heating is on a lot - about 14-16 hours a day in the winter. I don't have a gas hob and I don't use the gas fire at all, and i'm just over £100 a month. I think this is more expensive than many people are, but we're in the north of Scotland and there is almost always someone in the house, so the heating is on a lot over the winter.0 -
Actual readings and 1648kwh just seems a lot for a months use0

Considering the Winter we've had it's probably right. I would say the only other thing to check would be that your bill reflects the kind of meter you have - metric (m3) of imperial (ft3). If its imperial there'll be a calculation showing on your bill to convert to metric. I don't know who your supplier is but I'd recommend you shop around for an online deal - British Gas also offer a monthly billing service so you can keep a close eye on your bills.0
