JSA Rant, Sorry

Need to rant, sorry :-
A year and half ago I gave a full time job up to proceed in attending college and gaining better qualifications to have a better life for myself and children (they are 7 and 19), knowing that I would have to sacrifice a wage for benefits etc.
I am still at college (another 1 and 1/2 years to go) but I've now been moved over to JSA this week due to my daughter being over 7. I 'signed' on for the first time on Tuesday, not knowing when I would get the money but presumed it would be on a Thursday like I did my Income Support.
Now, it was only when I phoned the JSA yesterday to find out what was happening with my payments that I was told I would get paid today into my account only 1 week!
I have lost a week of money due to this change over as I would've had 2 weeks of IS on Thursday of this week. To be told that I have got to now survive on £65 for 2 weeks with a 7 year old and 19 year old in the house plus my bills are due out of my account next week, which are well over the £65 mark.
To top it off, I had no payment go into my account today so phoned the JSA once again, to then find out my bank details had been entered incorrectly by one digit. I was told that I would get a call back by 14.30 this afternoon to let me know how they will issue another payment. I ended up phoning as I hadn't had this phone call, to be then told I'd have a call back in an hours time. Of which I got but due to the time I was then told by a smarmy operator that I would not receive anything now until Monday.
How the hell am I to buy food and top my gas and electric meters up with absolutely nothing??
Now to say I am angry is a slight understatement!!
Has anyone else been put in this situation before??

Odd. Why are you going on Job Seekers if you've still got 1.5 years left at college? Or are you seeking work to supplement college?
To get JSA you have to be actively looking for work.0 -
According to the Government I am able to actively seek work due to only doing one day a week at college!0
-
So are you going to be actively looking for work?0
-
I have no choice but to do so although not many employers will take on someone for 16 hours though!
It is on my file that I am going self employed once I have got my qualifications though.0 -
Ok cool. I assumed you were at college FT.0
-
There is a bit of a debate on that as Full Time is usually classed as 16 hours or over but the course I am on is only 1 day a week or 2 evenings a week either way do not add up to the 16 hours.0

Surely the OP will be getting tax credits and child benefit?0
-
why would you give up FT work for a one day course?
would it not have been smarter to get the 19 year old to babysit for the 2 evening classes and retain a FT job?0 -
Well said.0
