incapacity benefit to ESA

Hi,
When all the change starts with a vengeance what can I expect to happen before being told I'm as fit as a butcher's dog?
I ask because the last form I filled in I had to tick a box to say what was relevant to me (couple of years ago). Then I was sent a letter to say that I reached the 15 points required.
Will a form still be sent out, or will all that be done by ATOS at the medical. I would've thought a form should be sent to the patient as I imagine there's loads of questions. Any advice please?

You will receive an ESA50 to complete, along the same lines as the IB50. You may then be called for a medical - most people will, though certainly not all.Gone ... or have I?0

The change starts next week, there was a big article in my local rag yesterday where they are suggesting that ATOS will use community centers and sports halls so that they can increase the medicals 10x to lower the time needed to test all IB claimants, it will then only take 4 years to test everyone.0

I'm on IB and was sent a form before xmas, I haven't been sent for a medical and this week was sent a letter saying i will be getting my benefits and will not be sent for a medical untill future notice.
I was sent for a work focus interview in Jan this year and was worried that if i cancelled again my IB would be stopped so i attended. I have to say I couldn't fault the woman I saw I got upset and my other half had to come with me and spoke for me as well. She said she had no say in the recall but would put down it wasn't a suitable time for me to attend, but i will be happy to have her as my support worker when i'm ready to look for work.
I wouldn't pay to much attention to the media as the goverment need to be seen to be doing something to deal with the back log. It is a worrying time for people on IB and ESA as I know i feel like a bad workshy person when in fact i didn't chose to become ill and worked untill i became ill.
OP with regard to your question fill your form and wait and see, every area is different I thought I would be called for a medical, maybe there is a back log? Good luck0 -

Was the form an IB renewal or are you in an ESA test area?Gone ... or have I?0 -
HI Dmg24
i'm not in the test area. It wasn't the job centre it was a company to help people back to work couldn't understand why i had been sent but they sent me for a second one at the job centre but realised it was an error and cancelled.
It was for IB a for to tell them about my condition not sure what it is called?0 -

It was a Work Focused Interview that you were called for, these were part of the IB process also. You are more likely to be called for a medical when you are moved over to ESA, but hopefully they will not call you for a while yet.Gone ... or have I?0 -
thats the name!!!! the woman was lovely!!!! she was so sweet and understood things i couldn't have a bad word to say about her. She was so supportive and told me of some of the things they could support me in future when i'm well to go back to work as i wont be able to go back to my old line of work. I know they get a lot of stick but this woman was lovely there are some good staff in the agancy's.
The new letter said i wont be sent for medial untill furture notice so maybe untill I go to ESA. When will that happen do you think0 -

I think the JCP and the Pathways providers are like any organisation - you get good and bad, but definitely more good than bad.
In theory you will move over to ESA when your next IB renewal is due, but that could change. Also, by the time you are called everything could have changed again anyway!Gone ... or have I?0 -
think your right there! might be all changed by the next renewal, may be like x factor you will be buzzed if you don't get your benefit and look to well! should say I am joking or someone will say i am a dwp staff who is in the know and will leak it to the dailymail!0

MY husband had to go to a pathways interview and the woman was very nice, the security less so when I asked for an accessable room so that i could go with him, apparently this needs to be mentioned when the appointment is made by the person who passes your details to the provider so you cant request it yourself, my husband could then walk fine so it wasnt requested and I had to sit in reception.
He only had the one though, the rest have been postponed by the nice woman because she thought he was so ill them, god knows what she would find now after his stroke and with heart disease and angina into the mix too.
edited to add we did have some good news a couple of days ago, my husband is being kept in the support group of ESA without a medical this ESA50.0
