Hi not sure if this is the right place to post this.
Ive just been in three shops today and found they are changing their returns policy.
1. jd sport are reducing their returns policy with a receipt down from 28 days to just 7 days.
2. Asda will only refund or exchange with a receipt. No receipt no refund or credit note.
3. B&Q will also only accept returns with a receipt and no longer give u a credit note for returns without receipt.
I know someone will say they are within their rights but are these stores watering down their customer care to make even more profits when most people need as much help as possible.
This will make it very difficult if buying for a relative or friend and almost impossible to buy as a gift.
Maybe people could list other stores who are watering down their returns policy. This would help us decide the places best to shop

I have something I need to return to JJB, bought last Sat, I'm sure they said then that it was 28 days to return so thanks for the warning, will check receipt tonight and hopefully still be able to return tomorrow. Asda policy (certainly for clothing) has been no exchange/refund without receipt for a while, as has B and Q. Sainsburys also no longer exchange/refund clothing without a receipt.0

sorry its JD not jjb and the new rules apply from 6th march0

You only need to do a search on eBay for "credit note" to get an idea of why the stores are changing the policy of allowing returns without a receipt - it is a shoplifter's dream: steal clothes, return as "wrong size", get credit note, sell credit note at 20% discount, rinse, repeat.Come on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.0

I think they may lose business with a returns policy like that, I know I would definitely not buy with only 7 days to return as I could not guarantee I could get back to the shops in time.
Debenhams changed their returns policy a while back to I think 14 days but they had so many complaints(me included) that they soon went back to 28days.0 -

I understand no credit note etc but I would have thought exchange would
still be an option.0 -

As long as you can prove you bought it from the store ( if it was their own brand, then thay can't argue with that !) they must give you a refund if you ask for one (or an exchange if that's what you want)0
