are all billing quarters the same?

Do all utility companies have the same billing quarters or does it depend when you join them?

i.e. March, June, Sept, Dec etc as I am at present but if I was to change supplier in July would they then be Oct, Jan, April, July etc?

No, they differ for each individual customer. (And they also seem to vary by a few days on a random basis.) However, daily standing charges or number of units charged at tier 1 are calculated accurately for how many actual days each bill turns out to be for.

(The bills are varied not for the sake of the printers or the email servers or the posties but for the sake of the call centre staff to try to spread out any queries.)
  • It depends on when the meter readers are scheduled in for the area you live in for a particular supplier - nothing to do with when you join them!
