I've stopped doing GfK as reading the guidelines, sifting the info from threats and randomly failing the test took up more of my time than the fee covered. Only do the letter ones now.

I may join you in that, but after this job please. I could do with the free petrol.

Eek, just reread the brief for the gfk petrol jobs. That's an awful lot of stuff to remember when you can't use your phone!

I got all excited then and went to check the boards.....then I see that this vist requires me to visit two counties...mileage of over 160 miles?! The fee doesn't go anywhere near that, even with allowances. I do wonder how they are going to get people to complete these visits, especially if the price of petrol goes as high as some people are predicting it could...

I have to cover 5 sites and quite a few miles. On the bright side, I haven't read the brief properly yet so ignorance is bliss.

  • I am contemplating deleting my account with ESA. I have done all the pawn shops in my area so not allowed to go back to them ever.

Rotation on pawn is only 3 or 6 months, think it's six... Either way the staff still remember you because they don't get that many customers :wall:

I've been to all the local ones a few times now and it's been interesting shall we say :rotfl:
  • Oh, it felt like it took forever but I think that was because I fell asleep in the middle of it :(

I've done quite a few of these now and I've worked out a technique (after that first disasterous one). Firstly, I drink a can of redbull before I leave, then I write the report up as soon as I get home and DO NOT SEND. Then I set my alarm so that I get up for midday, thus still keeping my early submission bonus, and proofread it myself for questions where I've blatantly just fallen asleep at the keyboard.

As they let you submit anything as long as it has the right number of words I've found it to be a useful way of avoiding proofreading queries :rotfl:

Just a few casual observations from the outside (and please don't think I'm having a go because I'm not!)

    1. Slow down. You sound like you're going to end up in a box the way you're going on, especially with the seeing things when behind the wheel comment the other week

    2. I didn't think you were supposed to get drunk on these or was it just tiredness? ;)

Watch what you're doing and stay safe, whichever way you look at it even with the "free" drinks and pittance of fee (with added pittance bonus) it's not worth putting yourself through hell for! :)

PS - Is it just me that misses the TNS nightclubs? Fantastic fee for one drink and half an hour in a grotty nightclub... Back in the good old days *sigh*

Not sure if my local ones appeared or not as it was an hour after the email when I saw it :( only circuit I did see was 240 miles between garages and add a hundred for the trip to get to and from home... They have no chance even with mileage...

It's ok, I know I do too much, believe it or not I've actually calmed down a lot now that I'm not working 22 hour days :D

I wasn't drinking, there just comes a point, for me around 6am the next morning, when I can't hold my eyes open and sitting in front of a computer exacerbates it as does driving. And I haven't seen 'things' for a good year lol. That was back when I was finishing work at t club at 6am and starting at t day job at 8.30am. Now I get a good 4 or 5 hours sleep a night but I genuinely can't sleep before around 4am. Habit I guess :(

I do love doing th nightclub jobs, too young to remember the tns ones tho :( just waiting til I get good enough to do the secret eating ones :D I miss working at the club but it would kill me if I went back 5 nights a week so this is my sensible option ;)

It's not so much the rotation - it's the fact that you have to be all 'umm, how does this work?' and then it turns out you're already in their system. And you need ID for some scenarios, so no false names.

I'm sure the brief said you couldn't apply if you had visited the site before. I will have a look the next time they come up as I didn't mind doing them and a couple of them are local to my work.
