just received credit card statement, forgot to pay last month, so now got £25 late fee to pay. totally my fault but when i rang and asked them to reconsider, good customer etc been with them long time etc agreed very quickly to halve it!
also remembered happened once before with a different card due to a mix up (going away for month paid statement balance before due but forgot to ask total balance) and that card refunded total fee.
so always worth asking!

Indeed. You can see a thread on the subject of asking to be let off fees [thread=24869]here[/thread].
Note that if you are on a 0% or other promotional deal missing even one payment normally means the deal is forfit and you switch to the full interest rate.
We keep saying it but everybody should set up a Direct Debit to at least pay the minimum amount off each month.0 -
Word to the wise for everybody! Follow that DD advice!
Got stung by MBNA last month through my own stupid fault -didn't check the statement properly and underpaid by £18.
Cost - a £25 fee, and interest immediately payable on it, 14.9% APR.
Had to get the money off the card ASAP and onto my Capital One 5.9% LoB card, but still managed to accrue £37 in interest in the interim. Cancelled card and was angered/amazed when the 'interest statement' came through this week.
Mark my words MBNA, I will get revenge!
(In six months time of course ;-) )The above facts belong to everybody; the opinions belong to me; the distinction is yours to draw...0
