Good afternoon

I have applied on line for a santander Flexible Isa with a attractive rate. Have I made a good decision? I don't hold any current accounts with them as I don't dare risk it!! But maybe It will give me trial of how they can be in the future. I look forward to your comments. Thanks in advance.:)

What a shame its Santander. Hopefully others follow.
  • Brave, very brave......Sorry, only teasing.:rotfl:
  • Yes afraid all my dealings with Shamtander have been to say the least "exhausting and frustrating"! Wouldnt go near them again.
  • Santander - aarrrggggggggggg !

Would have to offer me bucket loads to get me to go back.

I have my 2010/11 ISA with them (3.2% with base rate guarantee has remained fantastic throughout the year). Fortunately I've not had to contact them about it and suffer their legendary customer service. Fly in the ointment is that I tried to set up internet banking twice but they never sent me all the stuff. I got the woman on the phone to confirm my money was in there and have left it at that ever since.

I rang their sales line today to ask about their new one and if I can open it now and fund it in April. If anyone's interested, you can leave it empty for 30 days before they close it, so you can open on the 6th or 7th of March for you 2011/12 contributions if it's still open.

At the same time I rang customer services and asked about registering for internet banking again, and the guy said he would send me the stuff again so fingers crossed.

Both phone calls I made were answered immediately by real english speaking people, despite being at lunchtime on a day when they've just launched a fantsatic ISA. So maybe they are turning things around.

I think as long as I get my internet banking stuff through this time, I will risk using them again for the ISA I probably won't need to touch. But no way would I have my current account with them yet.

brave decision to go with Satander - IMHO not worth the extra £7.50 over the 3% more generally available

I have an ISA with them and opened it with no problems at all :D

Looking forward to transferring it elsewhere, my luck must run out eventually
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I've had this one for nearly a year since it was the best rate for my 10/11 allowance, no problems, but will change in March if not competitive anymore.

I did have all the previous years cash isas with Halifax but transfered to Santander for around 8 months when they paid more, then transfered back to Halifax when I could get 3% from them (best transfer rate). All the transfers went smooth, and all online details fine, just had to phone Santander to get some balance paperwork - so understand the complaints about their service. However no big problems.
