Yes, I see what you mean and it is worth dealing with some of these concers. For instance you should not be rationing food in this way and your IP should be aware of your budgetary needs. Another example of where I went wrong ... when compiling my initial I&E I estimated £250 per month for food shopping (thinking I survived on beans and soya mince as a student, I can do it again) My IP increased this allowance to just over £400 .... soya mince ??? PAH !!! OK, it's not champers and caviar (hate the stuff anyway), but it's better ( for all concerned ... or in range) than a diet of beans !

Sorry Foggy for taking up so much of your time but if they look at my last 3 months statements and see what I actually spent on food will they say you have only spent say £40 a week you can't now ask for £100?

Not likely they would be able to tell from bank statements what you have been spending at the supermarket -- after all, many of us were topping up the weekly shop on credit cards just prior to IVA as a matter of survival. Guidelines for us .. two adults with a young son were just over the £400 mark, so that's what the IP allowed.

Thank-you. We are similar there is myself, my husband and our 15 year old daughter so it would probably be the same.
