How to make an offer for an existing business?

Hi,
I am ready to make an offer for a business and was wondering what is the best way to go about doing this? Is it just a case of getting in touch with a business lawyer and have them draft the offer?
What are the costs involved?
Can anyone recommend a good business lawyer in Edinburgh?
Thanks,
Calum

Is it private or through an agent? Have you seen the accounts and had them checked out? Is this just an offer on a whim? Do you have cash ready or are you seeking finance?

Through and agent. This certainly is not an offer on a whim. Finance is arranged and I am now seeking advice about how best to put forward an offer.0

You would have to put the offer through the agent. If it's acceptable then instruct solictors.Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0

Thanks Steve. My offer will be subject to certain conditions being met so I am reluctant to write this offer myself or does the detail come further down the line?0

Tell the agent what you are offering, and any conditions associated to it.
Out of interest what type of condition are you looking to implement?Estate Agent, Web Designer & All Round Geek!0
