Do keep in touch with the council regarding your HB claim - try to take everything they need down there in person and get a receipt for everything you hand in. Give them a call to chase up your claim.

Also, it is unlikely that a housing association will go down the court route as long as you are in active contact with them and showing willing towards paying off your arrears. even if you can pay a small amoutn towards the arrears this will help. and say in touch, explain all your mental health issues too.

    good luck

    Thanks skater_kat :)

I'm going in to see them at the Council, in person first thing Monday morning.

Will go with my mate (she's 2+ years sober :)) for some moral support.

Good plan re asking for receipts. Will do.

Re my Housing Association, I get on very well with one of the chaps in their 'Income Management Team' there, and I emailed him yesterday to put him in the picture.

Feels good to have paid some off at least.

Just hoping that they will backdate the HB next week, but I'll just show up, organised with all my paperwork. The rest is out of my hands!

    Cheers,

    Sim.

When you get your HB claim back in process (monday) request HA take third party deductions from your pending ESA claim, this may not be activated until ESA is in payment though so keep checking progress, think it's currently £3.25 per week which will be deducted from your rent arrears and will satisfy your HA you are prepared to reduce arrears and therefore avoiding further court action.

I don't mean to worry you further but are your Council Tax payments up to date, if not speak to Council on monday to discuss, maybe, as above, third party deductions to avoid further charges due to a possible liability order.

As long as you keep people in the loop ( Housing Assoc', Council) they should be understanding.

Good luck and wish you well on road to recovery
