Kitchen Tiling

Hi

Can someone please advise, i am having a new kitchen put in and tiling done what i want to know is:

Do i need to tile the whole kitchen and then have the units put on?

Walls are not in a bad condition but i don't want the kitchen to rot from the back at a later date due to condensation etc...

Any help with this question is much appreciated

normally you tile last, after the units are installed.
however theres nothing to stop you doing it either way. it just costs more money.
    Get some gorm.
  • We've completely refurbed the kitchen at out new place and put down floor tiles, although no wall tiles. We used washable kitchen diamond paint for the walls and ceiling, plus are having upstands along the worktop and a splashback behind the hob.

We tiled the floor before putting the units down, purely out of ease rather than having to measure and mess about with cutting tiles and making it look good (also so that we could raise the units up higher). I know it saves tiles to do it after, but we just found it easier to tile first.

Why should the cabinets rot? If they were likely to, then I'd say that you had other, more important problems to solve, long before you started thinking about a new kitchen. At any rate, if rot was going to be a problem then it would occur whether or not the walls were tiled. It is just a waste of money to tile the areas behind the cabinets.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
