Direct Debit!

Hi there I was just wondering if someone could help me with something, this forum always seems very helpful!

My Ex is setting up a direct debit to pay Child Maintenance (all very amicable) Now he wants to arrange it so it goes out on the 1st of every month.

If he was to set it up now would it still come out on the 1st? Or do you have to set it up quite a way in advance?

    Today is enough in advance for the SO to leave on Tuesday.

    I wouldn't leave it any later though :o

    He is not setting up a Direct Debit he is setting up a Standing Order.
    He can specify what date the Standing Order leaves his account.
    Depends which bank he is with & if he can set it up online.

    Also depending on the bank and how much, it may go by faster payment (same day) instead of the more traditional 3 day transfer.

    most will go by FPS if it is avaliable at the time of SO
