Word of warning, daughter changed her car from a Yaris 1.0 to a Mazda MX5 1.8. Hundreds of thousands of people change their car every year, well she was willing to pay whatever the mark up would be for the last month of the insurance. Hastings refused to give her a price, charged her for cancelling as that was her only option and she lost 11 months no claims. Then they had the cheek to offer her 12 months insurance on her newer car!!!!
Am I missing something here?? Is this how all car insurance companies behave?

Hastings aren't an insurance company (they are a broker).

Presumably the original underwriter wasn't prepared to accept the new car, so there was no alternative but to cancel and take out a new policy with a different insurer.

You cannot guarantee your current insurer will let you swap over the car being covered. She should have enquired about the insurance position before buying the car.

Hastings Direct aren't an insurance broker. They're an insurance joker!

I haven't the energy to recount my tale of woe. Suffice to say, avoid them like the plague.
