Driving with a US license in the UK
Hi,
My boyfriend is moving back to the UK next month. He has a US driving license and once settled he will be looking at taking his theory and practical test as required within 12 months of moving back to the UK. I was wondering if anyone has found themselves in a similar situation? It has been reccommended that he leases a car for the first twelve months, as this will this help towards building credit to obtain a mortgage? Is this true? Can anyone offer any hints and tips as to ways we could save and what are our best options? Many thanks

If he doesn't have a UK credit rating how is he going to lease a car?
Also I think the title of the thread is misleading and you are probably in the wrong section.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Leasing may not be an option. He may be forced to hire cars in the first 12 months, assuming he has credit cards."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

He'd be better off just buying a cheap car..0
