Laptop to tv vga

I've connected my laptop to tv via vga cable but the tv says no signal then goes into standby. I have tried changing resolutions but I can't get it work. What am I doing wrong?

Nevermind I've done it. THis is soooo coool.
If anyone else having trouble I went to the actual graphics card settings and changed refresh rate.0 -
What refresh rate did you select - out of interest?0
