I don't know for sure but I suspect the catch is that you will only have one lot of NCB.
This means that should you go for 2 policies in future, one of you will have to start from scratch

No you dont. Admiral Multicar works like this

Its just a way of managing all your policies... with individual policies underneath with their own drivers, no claims bonuses etc. So say

    Car A - Mr + Mrs Jones - 2 Years NCB
    Car B - Mrs Jones - 2 Years NCB

Mrs Jones has an accident in Car A, it affects the NCB of car A. Mrs Jones has to note the claim down on Car B as well (as you do with any insurer) but it doesnt affect Car B's NCB.

POPPYOSCAR, Hi, every time I have changed insurers I have always been asked to send in my proof of no claims/renewal for the last 10 years. As far as I understood this is standard practice. !!

Never been asked to do this and don't really understand why you would have to as I thought they had access to claims data base anyway.

We have Admiral multi-car 2 cars on and another due to join next month.Have not been asked by Admiral for any proof so far.

Hi, as far as I understand they can only search the database via vehicle registration and not by name/address so if you have a crash then change car then change insurer they have no way of cross checking this. How often have you changed insurer?

CUE Database can be checked by Name, DOB, Address and probably vehicle details. So no, you can't have a bump and hide. If its been logged by an insurer and put on there, chances are, it'll be found. It pulls back full and limited matches based on the details you put in.

    Trying to think back now.

A few times over the last few years on 4/5 cars.

As I said OH car changed from Swinton to Admiral Multi-car beg january this year not been asked for proof of No Claims and that was 8 weeks ago would have thought would have been asked for by now.Perhaps it is a new thing with them? I will find out as my car goes on next month.

Hi, they might not ask where you are adding an extra car to an existing policy as theoretically on renewal you should have already disclosed any accidents you have had even on other policies. As I said, I have been asked for proof for many years from the likes of Admiral, Churchill, Privilege, Cooperative, CornhillDirect, Marks and Spencer, Budget, AXA, Aviva and More Than. ( I change insurer every year to get the best price.) I have even swiched to Admiral then to Churchill then to Admiral then to M&S then back to Admiral and each time Admiral asked for proof. !!
  • In response to curtiss122 I have just received my renewal quote from Admiral for our multicar policy. As per the norm way over the odds initial quote but read the small print and low and behold they add two, yes two, credit charges if you pay by monthly direct debit. I pay one monthly figure from one account to cover both drivers and vehicles yet they charge thirty quid per driver credit charge. From looking round even their credit charge seemed pricey. So needless to say its not really a multicar policy just two policies just sent in one envelope. Shop round you will get cheaper. Hope this helps. TT
