I don't mean to be a humbug but bare in mind that they get thousands more listings when they do things like this which means your items have alot more competition and therefore you might not get such high prices as at any other time.

And listing fees are on pennies as they charge the high whack fees on the final price.

    So very true.

Free listing days are good news for buyers, because there's so much stuff going on that prices are depressed because of the relative shortage of bidders. Bad news for sellers, though, because the pennies saved on the listing fee are outweighed massively by the lower price achieved.

Best motto - never list on a free listing day. ;)

It depends what you're selling,99p listings NOT listed on a free listing day aren't guaranteed to achieve higher prices though.

I won't risk it these days,it's either a BIN or a higher start price on a FLD.

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
I have not sold on ebay for a while, but last time I tried to list an item it said I did not have an automatic payment method set up. I have a Paypal account that I have used recently to buy on other sites and so don't know why it won't let me list. Advice appreciated. TIA.

When it says that it gives you instructions on what to do,it's just so Ebay can take the fees from your Paypal account automatically when they are due every month.

Do remember that I think you get the first 80 listings per month free if you list at a starting price of 99p anyway, so if you are prepared to take a gamble on the finishing price there is no reason to wait for the free listing weekends, and you woul dhave less competition.

Private sellers get the first 100 listings free if they start at .99p or less per month. You can list more than 100 but you will be charged the normal listing fee in your category once you pass 100 listings.

I find things tend to sell on eBay for what they're worth and I wouldn't feel uncomfortable listing a £100 item with a starting price of 1p.
  • After I have used up my 100 free this time, can I start and list 99p free from 1 March?
