Whilst opinions4u has in my opinion been a bit harsh in their response they are however 100% correct.

You have no recourse against the bank. You need to speak to whoever it is that has been charging you and try to resolve things with them.

    i had a magazine subscription.

....... i only have an online statement, i dont receive it thro the post. if i received it thro the post, i would have checked more carefully.

    1) no need for subscriptions, (or mags at all really as every bit of info in the world is online for free) Get them direct from WH Smiths.

    2) Check statements

Did you not realise you were receiving two subscriptions?
  • thanks for some facts and some imaginitive speculation.

i check DD/standing orders, i missed this payment in the list

hence....why, it was an open question of what my options are....rather than "how do i get the money back"

this is why i wanted to ask. my lesson is probably that receiving a paper statement is valuable.
  • This is what I suggest.

Contact the subscription provider and ask for a refund. If not..
Contact your bank and ask for either their Visa or Maestro helpdesk number. As this is not a bank error nor can they intervene, you can contact the card provider and ask for a charge back. This may have have a backlash from the company in question but the I'd recommend..
Cancelling your card and have the bank re-issue another one.

Hope this helps you and other people out there that need some guidance in the future.

One question I should ask is - did you ever receive anything in regards to subscription 2?

You've failed to answer Cmdr_Bond's question. Did, you, or did you not, receive a copy of magazine 'Two' every month/week (for quite a few years, I presume)?

If you did get your regular copy of the magazine in question, did you assume the company made a mistake and did send you a free copy throughout this time? Did you fail to advise them about the (presumed) mistake?

In this case, you have no comeback at all.
