Housing Benefit and bank account

I am going to open a regular current acc so I can set up Direct Debits, I currently pay my TV licence at the post office and CT at the office in town as its not far but DDs would make it easier :)

My question is do I tell my HB office as soon as I open the account as I will have no statements as such yet obviously, or do I wait till I have 3 mths worth let them know and give them a copy?

Thank-you

Contact the Local Authority and set up a DD to pay CT, there's no need to supply statements as it sounds like you are already receiving HB (am i right), they request statements for new claims as a rule and for further evidence if querying a claim (drop/increase in income)

I have my HB going into a savings acc, I had to close my old curr acc due to problems with paying back my OD :( I believe you can open a basic acc for DDs etc which is what I was going to do.

So I dont need to provide statements or let them know Ive opened a new acc?

No, not at all, i use a basic bank account to pay my bills, if i don't have enough in i only get charged £8, beats up to £60 from current account
