Well looks like lots of us are trying to work out what next year is going to be

Can someone with more knowledge than me tell me if i'm right here

Basic Element 1920
Couple Element 1950
Work 30+ Element 790
Child 1 2555
Child 2 2555
Child 3 2555
Child 4 2555

total 14880

I think that i then take my yearly income before tax, remove 6420 for the threshold and times the amount by 41%, and the difference between this figure and the 14880 is what i should be entitled to?

Not sure if i have understood the equation to be honest with you :-)

You forgot the £545 child tax family element
Forums can be/are a good guide to entitlement and it is good practice to back it up with clarification from the relevant department/specialist with written confirmation to safeguard yourself.
  • Do you have any childcare? If you put your household income for this tax yr as well as whether have any childcare I could do the calculation for you

assuming you work 30 hours or more then your total possible allowance is £15425

    (A) your income = taxable income (taking off any pensions contributions, gift aid payments) add on any benefits you get on your P11D (company car, health plan etc), add any interest from savings over £300

    (B) reduction to TC due to income = income (A) minus the threshold £6420 x 41%

so (A) + (B) = annual tax credits amount (then split into 13 payments)
