FN key not working

Toshiba Satelite laptop running Windows 7. Normally when I press the FN key a drop down appears at the top of the screen. From there I could select things like wireless on/ off and brightness controls. Now when I press the FN key nothing happens. Some of the things such as brightness I can adjust with F6 & F7 but not wireless, zoom or touchpad.
Any ideas please how I can get the drop down back.

Have you tried using the on screen keyboard?
Open On-Screen Keyboard by clicking the "Start" button , clicking "All Programs", clicking "Accessories", clicking "Ease of Access", and then clicking "On-Screen Keyboard"
It's not a fix, but it may help if you have a faulty fn key
  • @jazzy. I can do it that way, in fact have been using a taskbar shortcut to it. Really wanted to get the FN key back so I can quickly switch the wireless off if need to as this laptop has no physical switch to do it.
    Thanks for answering.

Find the model of the laptop and reinstall the drivers for the keyboard.

Like I'm going to listen to someone who has that stupid comment as a signature on their post.
Also you know *&^%. It is nothing to do with the drivers.
Why don't you go and amuse yourself in private. Stop being an irritating little $^&%.

I've no idea why you shot that person down, but he's got a point. You are probably missing a Taskbar Utility that needs to be installed so that the extra keyboard functions work.

On the other hand, I've had issues with Hibernating/Sleep/Standby and then turning back on my laptop to find that the FN key doesn't work. Try a shutdown and then turn it on again.
